There is a break-even point at which the price of a large LCL shipment equals the price of a 20’ FCL container. This will vary depending on where you’re transporting from and the current state of the ocean freight market. Freight insurance covers a freight forwarder’s liability for damage or loss to customers’ goods during transit. All freight insurance cover is calculated on the basis of the weight of the goods. The terms of freight forwarders’ liability are set out in conventions which differ depending on the chosen mode of transportation. In case of rail transport the International Convention concerning the Carriage of Goods by Rail (CIM) and the Agreement on International Goods Transport by Rail (SMGS); in case of road transport the Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road (CMR); in case of maritime transport the Hague-Visby rules and in case of air transport the Warsaw Convention and the Montreal Convention for or the Unification of Certain Rules for International Carriage by Air. For every high value shipment MyDello recommends to purchase additional full cargo insurance.

Dangerous goods or hazardous materials can be defined as goods, items, or substances that can have a harmful effect on the human body or the environment. There are various kinds of materials that could be dangerous to transport . These include: all batteries, solvent-based paints, pesticides and other garden chemicals, motor oils, petrol, gases used in the medical profession, chemicals used for cleaning, radioactive material used for x-ray purposes, drugs etc. If you are not sure if your shipment is classified under dangerous goods, please contact our logistics experts via platform messaging.

The term of delivery (also called ‘Incoterm’) is a part of the contract of trade between the seller (shipper) and the buyer (consignee). The Incoterms rules are intended primarily to clearly communicate the tasks, costs, and risks associated with the global or international transportation and delivery of goods between the seller and buyer.
